Buses threaten to go off roads on Oct 27

Private bus operators will not ply their buses on the National Highway No. 17 between Nanthoor Circle and Talapady on Wednesday to protest against the bad condition of the stretch.

They have threatened to block other vehicles on this stretch between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. Buses will not be operated on Konaje-Thokkottu Road.

This will affect public transport to Mangalore University and other medical institutions at Deralakatte.

MANGALORE: All city, service and inter-state buses are likely to keep off the roads on Wednesday seeking immediate repairs of NH 17 from Mulki to Thokkottu. A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting convened by Dakshina Kannada Zilla Karmika Parishat Bus Naukarara Sangha on Saturday. The Sangha will take out a padayatra from Nanthoor to Talapady, the stretch of NH 17 that is in a highly unmotorable condition.
